Hello world!

15 Jun

Hello all! Just this week I decided to foray into the world of brewing my own beer.  I immediately joined the Boston Brewers Meetup group and will be meeting some of those fine folks next Saturday at CBC.  I also, somewhat randomly, decided to start a blog incorporating three of my greatest loves-beer, books, and photographs.  I’m not sure exactly how this blog will pan out and I don’t know how often I’ll post, but I wanted to give it a try, cause, you know, all the cool kids are doing it and since I’m still in my early 30’s, I figure I have a few more years left to call myself a kid.  So, welcome, thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy the random world of my life and adventures into beer, books, and photos.

I thought I’d start by posting some of my favorite beers lately, along with a mouth-watering photo of beer on my back deck:

Sometimes I just love beer on the rocks.  Yes, I know some consider this blasphemy, however sometimes beer straight up is just too much on a hot day. The beer is Magic Hat Wacko.  Needless to say if you drink enough, you may find yourself feeling a bit wacko, but I’m assuming most folks have a higher tolerance than I do.

Also extremely good: ClownShoes Clementine (local from Somerville), Pretty Things Baby Tree (another MA local), Mango IPA at the Taproom in Lancaster, PA (giving a shout out to my hometown. Be warned: this beer has a VERY high alcohol content. I ended up drinking two of them when I was home last weekend and embarrassingly felt sick at my parent’s house, where my mother ended up giving me a bowl in case I had to upchuck!).

I will end by posting a link to an article my roomie sent me, which speaks about evidence found to show that Iron Age French were home brewers.  I am going to say this puts me in good company, for now. Iron-Age brewing evidence found in southeastern France
